Where did we come from? What is progress for us? Drawing on archives, testimonies, animation, music and movement, Progress is historical short film illustrating 1968 political and social movements in London, Paris, Bissau, Rio de Janeiro, Biafra and Kingston amongst the African Diaspora, reflecting on the idea of progress. Progress (1968) was first exhibited on Windrush Square, Brixton in October 2019 for the likes of diverse audience and passers by who could watch the film being projected in this iconic historical location and an immersive sonic experience thanks to the beautiful soundtrack composed by the music collective Steam down, as well as spoken words by Nadeem Dingasibi and a dance performance of revolutionary Brazil ‘68 by Adriano Oliveira.
